I'm urban literature author Michael Evans, known to many New Yorkers and my fans as MIDTOWN MIKE. You see, I was one of the top 3-card monte dealers in Midtown Manhattan during the '80s. I am no stranger to redemption in an urban setting. I grew up poor on the streets of the Bronx with an alcoholic mother, no father, and my mother's cousin, whose moral compass was, shall we say, seriously freaky. Over the past 25 years I have evolved from a wealthy three-card monte dealer into a responsible father of two, a suburban homeowner and..are you ready for this??? A corrections officer.
Through my own publishing company, monteME Publishing, I put out my first book--my autobiography --"It Was All In the Cards: The Life and Times of Midtown Mike." I sold over 10,000 copies of this book and my fans were begging me to write more and write faster. Within a year, I put out my second book "Son of a Snitch," which again sold over 10,000 copies.
